What is the difference between a registrant, proxy and billing contact?

Registrant

When you purchase a .dk domain name, you become the registrant of the domain name. You have entered into an agreement with DK Hostmaster and you therefore have the right to use the domain name.

As long as you pay your domain fee in time, you retain the right to use the domain name.

As the registrant, you can make all changes regarding the domain name in our online self-service portal.

Proxy

The registrant can authorise another person or company to manage the domain name. This role is called proxy; the person or company assigned as proxy will be assigned a separate user ID.

Some actions initiated by a proxy must be approved by the registrant before they are carried out. This includes transfer and deletion of a domain name.

Billing contact

The registrant can assign another person or company as responsible for payment for the domain name. This role is called billing contact; the person or company assigned as billing contact will receive a separate user ID.

The only action the billing contact is authorised to perform is to pay for the domain name.
