DK Hostmaster has recently suspended 102 .dk domain names associated with suspected Bitcoin scams on the web. DK Hostmaster has conducted data and identity checks on the customer, who had the domain names registered, because DK Hostmaster had sufficient suspicion, that the person did not provided accurate contact information. DK Hostmaster has received an increasing number of complaints recently, that .dk domain names are being used for scam ads. Here, well-known Danes are used as an eye-catcher, to attract and lure consumers to invest in bitcoins. This typically happens without the consent of the actors, investors, and other Danes, who is referred to.

DK Hostmaster is the technical provider of Internet infrastructure, but we are not immediately able to suspend domain names because of such complaints. But DK Hostmaster has another tool, that can alleviate a part of the problem. The Danish Domain Names Act obliges DK Hostmaster to be transparent about the Danish domain names by making details such as a user’s name, address, and telephone number publicly available. It is important that everybody knows, who the registrants of the domain names in the Danish zone on the Internet.
DK Hostmaster has an arrangement where anyone can submit a notification with reasonable suspicion, that a registrant of a .dk domain name is not registered with true information. For more information, read here:
