You must pay Danish VAT if you are:
- A person or company residing in Denmark
- A person residing in an EU country
- A person or company based outside of the EU
You do not have to pay VAT if you are:
- A company resident in the EU (except Denmark)
Companies within the EU are obliged to ensure that their VAT number (VAT number/company number) is registered with the company’s contact information at DK Hostmaster. This is updated using the self-service portal under the heading “Edit contact information”. Invoicing without Danish VAT requires the registration of a correct VAT number/company number with us.
Please note that if your company has already registered a company number with us and you want to change it, the domain name must be transferred from the old company to the new one. Read more about how to transfer a domain name.
If you do not pay the domain fee for your domain name (DKK 50 per year), we will suspend the domain name.
This means that your website or e-mail address will not work because we have taken it out of the .dk zone.
You can easily get your website or e-mail address up and working again by restoring the domain name in our online self-service portal. The restoration fee is DKK 125 per domain name.
A domain name can be suspended for three months. If it is not restored within three months, we delete the registration of the domain name.

Yes, some providers offer this service. Your provider can request to be the payer of your .dk domain name, when the first registration period expires and the domain name must be renewed (typically after one year). When your provider is the payer, you will not receive an invoice from DK Hostmaster.
If you do not want your provider to pay for your domain name registration, just reject the provider's request and pay the invoice that DK Hostmaster sends to you instead.
If you delete your domain name before the end of the registration period, you can get the remaining period fee refunded if:
- Your registration period is longer than 1 year (2, 3 or 5 years)
- Your registration period has not yet begun
If the registration period has begun, there will be a 5-month period where the fee can not be refunded. If the period has not yet begun, the entire amount will be refunded.
You will receive an email from DK Hostmaster if you can have a period fee refunded. In the email you will be asked to log in to our self-service with username and password. Here you can enter your bank details.
