Suspension

Suspension

You can read about the frequently asked questions about suspension of a .dk domain name here.

If your website or e-mail address is not working, it may be because we have suspended your domain name. The most common reason for doing this is that we have not received payment for the domain name.

You can easily get your website or e-mail address up and working again by restoring the domain name in our online self-service portal. The restoration fee is DKK 125 per domain name.

If a domain name is not restored within 30 days of the date of suspension, we delete the domain name.

If your website or e-mail address is not working, it may be because we have suspended your domain name. The most common reason for doing this is that we have not received payment for registration of the domain name.

You can easily get your website or e-mail address up and working again by restoring the domain name in our online self-service portal.

The restoration fee is DKK 125 per domain name. A domain name can be suspended for three months. If it is not restored within three months, we delete the registration of the domain name.

If you want to sign up for direct debit service (Betalingsservice) (DKK 8.75 per invoice), you can change your payment settings on our self-service portal under PAYMENT AND INVOICES > Edit payment settings.

You can also sign up directly in your online bank. Betalingsservice will then notify DK Hostmaster of your change.

Please note that open invoices issued before you sign up for Betalingsservice must be paid manually.

NOTE! Companies must always sign up for Betalingsservice using online banking and cannot use our self-service for this specific purpose.

You always have to unsubscribe from Betalingsservice in your online bank. After the cancellation, you will automatically receive your invoices from DK Hostmaster at the email address you have provided with us. This is free of charge, but be aware that payment must be done manually.

If you want to receive your invoices in e-Box, you must edit your payment settings in our self-service, where you can select this.

You must also make sure to register DK-Hostmaster in your e-Box, in your settings at e-Boks website.

If you want to unsubscribe from e-Box, and receive your invoices via another channel, this can also be changed on our self-service in your payment settings.

Validation means that DK Hostmaster compares the name and address information provided to DK Hostmaster with the information listed in the Danish National Register of Persons/Companies.

The name and address information of registrants with a Danish address is validated by checking the above-mentioned registers at the time a domain name is created. This way, we are certain that all contact information for our registrants is accurate.

Once your information is validated, you do not have to update your address information anywhere else than in the Danish National Register of Persons/Companies. However, you must still keep your other contact information, such as your e-mail address, up to date.

Yes, some providers offer this service.

Your provider can request to be the payer of your .dk domain name, when the first registration period expires, and the domain name must be renewed (typically after one year).

When your provider is the payer, you will not receive an invoice from DK Hostmaster.

Unfortunately, the payment date of an already issued invoice cannot be changed.

If we have not received payment for your domain name before it expires, the domain name will be suspended.

You can subsequently restore the domain name if we receive payment of the renewal fee and a restore fee within 30 days of the domain name being suspended. This must be paid online with a credit card on our self-service portal.

PLEASE NOTE: If one or more domain names are suspended, a restore fee of DKK 125 is payable per suspended domain name. This fee is payable in addition to the original invoice.

No. If you have received an invoice but have since cancelled one or more of the domain names specified on the invoice, we will send you a credit note.

If you have not cancelled all the domain names specified on the invoice, you should deduct the credit note from the invoice and pay the remaining amount.

PLEASE NOTE:You may only deduct the credit note from the invoice whose invoice number is stated on the credit note.

If you receive invoices for different domain names at different times of year, you can merge them so you only receive a single annual invoice.

You can do this via our self-service portal. Read how to do so here.

If you want to change the billing contact, you should do so on our self-service portal. See how here.

The change will apply from the next invoice issued for the domain name.

Once an invoice has been issued, it is unfortunately not possible to change the billing contact until we have received payment for the invoice already sent.

You receive a credit note if you have cancelled your domain name. If the credit note results in a credit balance on your account, you will receive a separate e-mail within a few days explaining how to have your credit balance refunded or transferred to another domain name.

If you have received an invoice in respect of the cancelled domain name, the credit note will specify which invoice number it offsets.

If you have not cancelled all the domain names specified on the invoice, you should deduct the credit note from the invoice and pay the remaining amount.

PLEASE NOTE: You may only deduct the credit note amount from the invoice whose invoice number is stated on the credit note.

Yes. You still must pay an invoice, including any invoicing fee, even though you have changed the way you receive invoices.

The change will only apply from the next time you receive an invoice from us.

Yes, as a company you can recive via OIOUBL.

Register by logging in on our self-service portal > PAYMENT & INVOICES > payment settings > enter your EAN no. under e-invoice.

If you delete your domain name before the end of the registration period, you can get the remaining period fee refunded if:

  • Your registration period is longer than 1 year (2, 3 or 10 years)
  • Your registration period has not yet begun

If the registration period has begun, there will be a 5-month period where the fee can not be refunded. If the period has not yet begun, the entire amount will be refunded.

You will receive an email from DK Hostmaster if you can have a period fee refunded. In the email you will be asked to log in to our self-service with username and password. Here you can enter your bank details.

The price per invoice to pay via Betalingsservice is 8.75 DKK, and 10.00 DKK to receive your invoice in e-Boks.

See all DK Hostmasters prices here.

It costs DKK 60 per year including VAT to have a .dk domain name.

This fee covers the costs of DK Hostmaster in connection with maintaining a database of all Danish domain names and upholding the Danish part of the internet’s infrastructure (DNS).

You must pay Danish VAT if you are:

  • A person or company residing in Denmark
  • A person residing in an EU country
  • A person or company based outside of the EU

You do not have to pay VAT if you are:

  • A company resident in the EU (except Denmark)

Companies within the EU are obliged to ensure that their VAT number (VAT number/company number) is registered with the company’s contact information at DK Hostmaster. This is updated using the self-service portal under the heading “Edit contact information”. Invoicing without Danish VAT requires the registration of a correct VAT number/company number with us.

Please note, that if your company has already registered a company number with us and you want to change it, the domain name must be transferred from the old company to the new one. Read more about how to transfer a domain name.

If you do not pay the domain fee for your domain name (DKK 60 per year), we will suspend the domain name. This means that your website or e-mail address will not work because we have taken it out of the .dk zone.

You can easily get your website or e-mail address up and working again by restoring the domain name in our online self-service portal. The restoration fee is DKK 125 per domain name.

A domain name can be suspended for 30 days. If it is not restored within 30 days, we delete the registration of the domain name.

When you have logged in, click on the drop-down menu to the right of the domain name and select “Change registration period”.

On the next page you can select the desired period.

Please note that the new period only applies from the next time the domain name is invoiced.

If you want to cancel the right to use a .dk domain name, you must do so via the self-service portal on DK Hostmaster’s website. You can follow this guide.
